The Correct Business Card Size and Format

Business cards carry information about a Company or an individual, which are generally exchanged in formal meetings to memorize.

While creating a Business card or a video brochure, few things which we must know are, contant i.e the information about the company or an individual such as Name, Address, Phone No, email id…., design we want to add to the card… but the very first step for creating your own business card is to know the size to be used.

Standard Dimension of Business cards

The Standard Dimension is 3.5 x 2 inches. Business card can be created vertically (3.5 inches width, 2 inches height) or horizontally (2 inches width, 3.5 inches height). It is the finished size of the card.

Business cards with the Bleed

The Bleed area is 1/8 inch of space beyond the finished size, i.e. the dimension ( or document size) used is 3.75 x 2.25 in which .25 is bleed.

What is need of Business cards with Bleed ?

Business cards with bleed are printed .25 inches extra than standard dimensions and then cut down to the standard size, which ensures that the paper will cut without the white edges.

Folded Business cards

These are usually 3.5 x 4 inches in size which is folded to 3.5 x 2 inches. And 3.75 x 2.25 with bleed.

Tips for designing a proper business card

1. Keep all your text and logo in the safe zone i.e. 3.25 x 1.75 inches

2. Use of border may create problem but even if want to use, keep border line away from the edges of your business card.

3. If creating two sided business card create to Groups. One for front side and other for back
